A Heritage Journey to Senegal & Gambia

Discover the land of Kunta Kinte.

A journey designed to showcase the rich historical and cultural significance of this part of West Africa to Black African descedants. Participants will have opportunity to re-live history, visit places with deep resonance for the Black diaspora and be immersed in diverse cultural activities that will enlighten, enliven and enrich even the most jaded of souls.

Senegal is home to Dakar and Saint Louis, two culturally dynamic and cosmopolitan cities. Senegal is also known for its wildlife parks including, Parc National du Niokolo-Koba, Parc National aux Oiseaux du Djoudj and Parc National de la Langue de Barbarie. In Senegal, you will find diverse people with Afro-French characteristics. The country’s coastline boasts of beautiful sandy beaches, modern hotels, and tempting cuisine, such as Tieboudienne (pronounced chey-bou-jen), Senegal’s national dish.

Meanwhile, The Gambia is the smallest country in West Africa and is almost entirely bounded by Senegal, except for a narrow stretch of Atlantic coastline. But what Gambia lacks in size, it makes up for in culture, food and its strategic position for the Atlantic slave trade. A former British protectorate, it often served as the last outpost for British ships moving enslaved Africans out to the Caribbean Islands and The Americas.
